Geoff
is a Firefighter/EMT-B with Butler Fire Dept. Geoff is a also
former police officer. He has been active in Search and
Rescue in Canada, and handled dogs since 1992.
He is currently certified through the National
Association of Search and Rescue as a Canine SARTECH III,
SARTECH II, and completed the NASAR Advanced
Search and Rescue class. He has also taught several search
courses in map reading, survival skills, ice and water rescue.
He is also certified through the Federal Emergency Management
Agency in Incident Command System and numerous other courses,
certified in Wilderness First Aid, Canine First Aid, Canine
and Human Decontamination, and Understanding Dementia and
Alzheimer's Disease for SAR Personnel..
Geoff
is also a licensed Ham Radio operator - KB9YXP and has
completed the Amateur Radio Emergency Communications courses
Level 1 and 2. He spends
his daytime hours working as a computer consultant, so he is
the geek of the team. By
using GPS and integrating it with computers, we are using high
tech tools to make searches easier and quicker.
Geoff
and Gretzky are Canine Search Specialists with WI-TF and
IL-TF1(Wisconsin and Illinois Task Force One )
Urban Search and Rescue Teams. They completed the 40 hour
Canine Search Specialist class through the Florida Association
of Search and Rescue and are certified as a State USAR Type II
Disaster Canine Team.
