Dan
is a retired enlisted Coast Guardsman with over 20
years in Engineering and Law Enforcement / Investigations. A
native of Maryland, he became a Wisconsin transplant when he
met his wife in Milwaukee back in 1980. He soon began to
understand what a "bubbler" was and "Bräts"
were, not to be mistaken for blowing bubbles and bad children.
"Dan
has been a licensed Amateur Radio Operator since 1991 and
holds a General Class License. In 2003, Dan was appointed as
Milwaukee County Emergency Coordinator for the Amateur Radio
Emergency Service (ARES) and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service
in association with Wisconsin Emergency Management - Office
of Military Affairs. A member of Milwaukee County VOAD, Dan was
the interim Chair for Milwaukee VOAD as they were merged with
Waukesha VOAD and became Citizens Corp COAD - Citizens and
Organizations Active in Disasters. He currently sits on the COAD
Board of Directors. Dan has completed EmComm I, IS100, IS100LE,
IS200, IS700, IS701, IS800 and holds an Associate Degree in
Electronic Technology and Communications. His current
employer is with Quad/Graphics where he works as a Automation
Electrician / Project Planner at the West Allis plant. He
also maintains the plants three business repeaters and 32
portables.
"Dan
enjoys the hobby side of Amateur Radio working many modes. He is a
Control Operator and System Manager for the Milwaukee Area Amateur
Radio Society (145.130 - N9LKH Repeater) and the Trustee of the
Milwaukee Area Digital Operator's Group (MADOG) D-Star, 1.2 Ghz
Voice and Data system running under the call sign of KC9LKZ. A 2M
and 70cm D-Star repeaters will be added later this year and linked
to the internet for a complete digital voice and data system.
Besides
being a geek (yea, another one), Dan enjoys fishing and hiking with
his family at the cabin, Serenity, near Hancock
Lake."
